Press conference: Automechanika 2014

Automechanika Frankfurt is the leading international trade fair for the automobile sector and a popular meeting place for representatives of the automobile trade, the parts and accessories business and the entire workshop sector. The complementary programme of events of this year’s Automechanika Frankfurt is more extensive than ever before with 11 workshops for automotive professionals and now in English, too (Galleria 1), special training area (Galleria 0), ‘Sculptures made of vehicle parts’ competition within the framework of the Automechanika Workshop Days, Innovation Award special show, Green Directory, Car Media World (F 10), film coating, 3-D printing, Club Sport Arena (Hall 4 and F 10), Race, Rally and Trial Trucks special show (F 11), Promotional Trucks special show (Agora), daily lecture programme with over 70 speakers (Portalhaus, Hall 9.2, Car Wash City lightweight hall, Hall 10) and Mobility Concepts of the Future (Hall 10).

Detlef Braun
Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt GmbH
Detlef Braun will speak about trends in the aftermarket, the programme of events at Automechanika Frankfurt and the focal-point subjects of ‘Truck Competence’ and basic and advanced training.

Prof Georg Spöttl
ITB, Bremen University
Prof Spöttl will present a study entitled ‘Sought – found! Recruiting trainees in the automobile trade’ and discuss whether workshops really have to roll out the red carpet for young people today or whether the worries are exaggerated and the real need is to question traditional recruitment practices and to present the company as a more attractive employer, especially to high-powered youngsters.

Jürgen Karpinski
President of the Federation of the German Motor Vehicle Trade (Zentralverband Deutsches Kraftfahrzeuggewerbe – ZDK)
In addition to reviewing the current economic situation in the automobile trade, ZDK President Jürgen Karpinski will discuss the growing significance of the internet for the motor-vehicle business and the subject of e-mobility.
